Special Edition on Growth MindsetDr. Dweck found that people’s theories about their own intelligence had a significant impact on their motivation, effort, and approach to challenges. Those who believe their abilities are malleable are more likely to embrace challenges and persist despite failure. This model of the fixed vs. growth mindset shows how cognitive, affective, and behavioral features are linked to one’s beliefs about the malleability of their intelligence. By helping students to develop a growth mindset, we can help them to learning more effective and efficient. Teaching students with growth mindset is cultivating an environment, where individuals believe their ability and talents can improve over time with hard work and effort. By fostering a growth mindset, students are taught to embrace challenges with open arms, and failure is viewed a learning experience. It is a way to motivate students to learn in a different way. Instead of a lecturer, teacher becomes more of a mentor. His role is empowering students when they're experimenting and learning through different methods, such as watching videos, collaborating in discussions, or carrying out research at home while engaging in concepts in the classroom. This kind of teaching empowers students since they are developing various skills during the learning process, as well as it raises their level of engagement. If you are interested in how to make your classroom a flipped classroom, even in an online environment, join us at the 11th Pan-European Conference on Digital Education. The conference is free of charge, held in English on 25th of February 2021 from 15:00 to 16:30 Central European Time. The participants will get a certificate of attendance. Apply now by clicking the button below. True flipped learning turns classroom time into a more individualized experience. Instead of an instructor addressing all students as a group, learners move at their own pace or in small groups to apply their knowledge in hands-on ways; this allows for a more differentiated experience overall. By a flipped classroom we empower students to take responsibility for their learning journey. Growth mindset is a mindset that helps teachers, students and people in general to accept challenges, love learning, learn from mistakes and persist when things seem difficult. The good thing is, that the growth mindset can indeed be developed with practice. Are you interested in how to teach a growth mindset? A growth mindset describes the underlying beliefs people have about learning and intelligence. When students believe they can get smarter, they understand that effort makes them stronger. Therefore, they put in extra time and effort, and that leads to higher achievement. A growth mindset creates a passion for learning rather than a hunger for approval. Its hallmark is the conviction that human qualities like intelligence and creativity, and even relational capacities like love and friendship, can be cultivated through effort and deliberate practice. Teacher practice has a big impact on student mindset, and the feedback that teachers give their students can either encourage a student to choose a challenge and increase achievement or look for an easy way out. What kind of teaching practice develops a growth mindset of students? Let Dr. Kristijan Musek Lešnik tell you. Come and join our online keynote on Teaching growth mindset on 26 November 2020 at 10:00 AM (Brussels time). Apply now on by clicking the button below.
