From Distance to Blended: Learning Digital Competencies

Erasmus+ course summary
To get closer to the digital natives (students born in the era of technological growth), the educators must develop various digital competences. To achieve that, the use of technology has to be demystified, and teachers motivated to develop their eclectic digital skillset. This course shows how inspiring teachers integrate digital tools and various 21st century skills such as creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, digital literacy and digital citizenship of both students and teachers. The program focuses on automatising certain processes of the educational system and avoiding burn-out by having time for what matters the most: teaching.

Full Programme

OBJECTIVES
The participants of the course will be able to redefine their classroom and develop distance learning materials, which can also be used in the blended learning classroom, where one part of the instruction is happening face to face, and another part is happening online.
Throughout the course the participants will get familiar with the fundamental concepts of distance and blended learning and its significance in contemporary education. They will learn how to use various LMS (Learning Management Systems). The participants will create content, develop their distance and blended learning classrooms, and feel empowered to implement digital tools in their everyday instructions.
METHODOLOGY
In delivering this course, we follow the following aspects of the Cambridge's digital competence framework: digital teacher, digital classroom, lesson preparation using digital tools, conducting a lesson by using digital tools, evaluating the learning process by using digital tools.
The format of the course is didactic, experiential, and interactive along with discussions, individual and team exercises and content creation. The participants will create a workbook with sessions’ summaries, and create a network which will be used to communicate and share resources and mentor each other after the program. Resources to deepen understanding and practice will be shared for further study.
