Why have we decided to organise the conference?
The global outbreak caused by COVID -19 changed the way we were able to reach our students overnight. Faced with these situations, many teachers have developed very good, creative, and practical solutions for online learning including motivating students and assessing their knowledge. We are inspired by them and would like to encourage the exchange of experiences and skills among teachers. Join the 1st Pan-European Conference on Distance Teaching and learn from your colleagues’ best practice.
When the epidemic broke out, just overnight, many of us teachers had to realize that we would have to pass on our knowledge to our students in the next few weeks in a completely different way than usual. This new reality has pushed us strongly out of our comfort zone, perhaps even into a panic zone. In a very short time we had to deal with the shock, the fear, maybe even the anger and look for solutions and new ways to continue teaching as effectively as possible.
But when we look back now, we can certainly agree that we have learned a lot from this journey. Based on our creativity, our knowledge, our ingenuity, we have developed many great practices of distance teaching. And what a great loss it would be if we simply left it and forgot it when the epidemic ended! By sharing best practices, we can help our colleagues and receive help and support from them. On the other hand, distance teaching experiences can be very helpful for face-to-face teaching to strengthen the digital skills of our students.
In Skupina Primera, as the Erasmus+ courses provider, we have decided to take the initiative and organize a Pan-European Zoom conference to enable teachers across Europe to share their best practices in distance teaching with their colleagues. We also invited our dear colleague and Erasmus+ trainer Nastja Mulej to give a keynote speech Confronting Challenges Creatively: How to Survive the LockDown and Stay Positive.
